Explore Our 2025 Choral Courses

For 40 years, the Choral Courses have provided opportunities for young singers from all over the world to learn excellent choral singing from the leading educators in their field. In 2023, we launched our first course open to singers of all ages, meaning we now offer opportunities for Juniors (ages 8–15), Seniors (ages 16–21), and a Choral Weekend (previously the Adult Choral Course) for participants aged 22 and above. Generous bursaries are available for all of our senior and junior choral courses.

What Our Participants Say

You get to spend the week surrounded by musical people, and those relationships for me have lasted and I am still in contact with my friends from courses.
— Rosie, senior choral course
The people are wonderful. It’s just everyone is so happy to be here and to be in an environment where they are surrounded by other people who are also a bit crazy about music.
— Manuela, Senior Choral Course
My confidence has really improved thanks to the course
— Senior choral course participant
I think it is an amazing experience and I would love to attend every year
— JCC Participant
I enjoyed learning from the teachers, learning from other students and learning songs that I have never sung before. I am using these skills at school and I’ve joined the senior choir.
— Dante, Junior Choral Course
I came on the course to broaden my choral experience. I loved the consort work and the private tuition. I loved everything!
— Rose, Senior Choral Course

FAQs

How old do I need to be? To come on a junior choral course, you must be aged 8 (or in year 3) and 15 (up to year 10). Seniors can be aged between 15, but must be in year 11, and 22. For the Choral Weekend, there is no upper age limit, but you must be too old to attend one of the Senior Choral Courses.

What time does the course start and finish? The timings for the Choral Courses are different this year. Those coming to a Junior or Senior Choral Course should arrive at the venue between 11am and 11:30am. The final day will finish between 5pm and 6pm. The Choral Weekend has a different schedule for each day.

Do I need to attend the whole course? Yes, full attendance is expected for the Junior and Senior Choral Courses. Singers should be available for each day of the course and should not plan to arrive late or leave early.

Do I need to audition? There are no auditions for any of our courses; all we ask for is enthusiasm and a love of singing.

Are meals and accommodation included? All of the Junior and Senior Choral Courses are fully residential, so everything is included. The Choral Weekend is not residential, so there are no meals or accommodation provided.

I’m taking my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Do the courses count towards the residential element? Yes! We can write a report for you, but you must provide us with your ID number before the course starts.

My voice is changing. Can I still join a course? Yes, absolutely! We run a bespoke programme for those with changing voices. Check out our interview with the director of this new programme, Binath Philomin.

Do you offer bursaries? Yes, bursaries are available for those who may not be able to afford the cost of a course, and you can apply for one as part of your application for a place on the course. You can read more about the bursary process here. There are no bursaries available for the Choral Weekend.

When can I apply? Applications will open in January 2025 for our Junior and Senior courses. Make sure you’re on the mailing list to be the first to hear when you can register for your course. You can register for the Choral Weekend here.
