Inspiring Tomorrow's Singers

Vision and Values

Our Vision and Values

The Rodolfus Foundation is a community of people whose lives have been inspired and changed by Choral Singing, Choral Music and great Choral Directors.

We engage with a wide-ranging and diverse group of young people aged 8 to 23, offering them opportunities to be part of our community choral training programmes, our bursary-assisted residential choral courses and our renowned Rodolfus Choir.

We believe in the power of excellent choral music and musical teamwork to inspire and change lives and our passion is to share this experience with as many young people as possible, with a heart for those on the margins of our society.

We are guided by a set of core values:

Excellence....which underpins everything we do.

Education....which honours and shares the very best of our collective wisdom and experience.

Creativity....which builds on the past, engages with the present and shapes the future.

Inclusivity....which ensures that our vision is open to all and experienced by many.

Collaboration....which ensures that our vision is always lived out in partnership with others.

Transparency....which ensures that we behave in an open, fair and accountable manner.

3-Year Plan

We have an ambitious plan to expand our work over the coming 3 years.

As an organisation we are passionate about extending opportunities to children and young people from all backgrounds to sing excellent music to the highest standards, and to enjoy the musical teamwork, confidence-boosting, horizon-broadening effects that choral singing can have. Everyone is welcome to attend a course, both boys and girls singing in mixed choirs and we have no audition requirements. However we realise there can be other barriers, both socially and financially..

Over the next 3 years, we have an ambitious plan to substantially grow our work by connecting with children’s choirs across the UK to share the joy of choral singing, and increasing our bursary fund year on year to support singers from different backgrounds wanting to attend a choral course.

We are actively seeking support to help us expand our core team, especially in the fundraising and business management areas, to help realise two key pillars of our 3-year plan: (1) to develop our earned and voluntary revenue which will make us more sustainable and deliver more bursaries to young applicants to our courses; (2) to create many more partnerships with grassroots choral organisations in the UK to offer their singers bursaries on our courses and collaborate with them creatively.

Ultimately, we want to narrow the participation gap that currently exists in music education, both for the life-long benefits of music making and also to help increase diversity and maintain relevance of our cultural sector.
