Bursary Fund 2025

Please Support our Bursary Fund

Music education is not as accessible as it could be for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. This bursary is a means of providing access to people like me. Helping young musicians to develop and expand their knowledge from professionals, sing in a range of different venues, sing services such as evensong and compline which may be unfamiliar to some and make both professional links and lifelong friendships.
— Libby Marsland, 22

Every year we offer financial support to as many singers as possible to attend a Junior or Senior Choral Course. The average bursary amounts to approximately 50% of the fees, or around £550. Having just completed our 2024 courses where we awarded at least £58,000 we are now beginning to fundraise for our 2025 Bursary Fund for which our target is £65,000.

Bursaries are means-tested and open to anyone. We also work with a number of partner schools and community choirs, helping their young singers to access our bursary fund. Our courses can have a profound effect on a young person who would otherwise not have considered such an intense, fulfilling week of music making was possible.

The courses can make a tremendous difference to how young people see themselves:

The course at Wellington has transformed George as a person, a performer and a singer. It has given him a confidence that is inspiring and fabulous...Giving children this opportunity (via bursaries) really does change lives.
— Mother of George, aged 13

The courses inspire all those who attend to take their singing and music study to the next level.

The course has inspired me to go for a grade 8 singing course to be able to take my exam
— Erin, aged 15
The Foundation has provided me with a life changing experience and I hope that I can take what I’ve learnt from the course and pass it on to future young musicians, as I now head into my final year at university studying Music for Education and Community Practice
