Welcome to our fundraising campaign for the Rodolfus Choir 2024-25 Season. We have an exciting roster of events planned for the choir in its 40th year, and to make sure we can maintain fee-free participation for our singers, we are aiming to raise £10,000.
Here’s what your donation will go towards:
Special 40th Anniversary Commission from Roderick Williams OBE
Roddy is an alumnus of the choral courses and Rodolfus Choir, and the President of The Rodolfus Foundation! Alongside his international operatic career, he is a fine composer. He has graciously agreed to write us a choral piece, which the choir will première on 1st January 2025 in a broadcast evensong on BBC Radio 3.
New Year’s Concert and Evensong
Our traditional Twixmas project, which this year includes a BBC evensong broadcast recording (released on New Year’s Day), and a concert on New Year’s Eve. Central London venue to be confirmed.
Stile Antico Palestrina 500 Workshop Weekend
Working with singers from Stile Antico on repertoire by Palestrina in his 500th anniversary year, including works for small consorts and for full choir, culminating in a concert in Oxford.
Recording project
This project is still in development, but we hope it will be the crowning moment of the season with a recording of works by Cecilia McDowall. The Choir has an impressive discography of over 20 CDs made over the last 40 years but has not recorded since before the pandemic.
Chris Bennie Travel Grant Fund
Although all our events are free, singers do still have to pay for travel to and from rehearsals and concerts. The Chris Bennie Travel Grant Fund (named after an alumnus of the Choir who sadly died at a young age) offers small grants to those that need a little help.
