Inspiring Tomorrow's Singers

Handel Messiah

Virtual Handel’s Messiah

Watch again

On Thursday 3rd December 2020, the Rodolfus Choir took part in a live-streamed performance of Handel’s Messiah direct from St George’s Church, Hanover Square and broadcast via Youtube. Soloists, the London Handel Orchestra and Director Laurence Cummings performed live from Handel’s church, while the choruses were pre-recorded and seamlessly woven into the performance.

The Rodolfus Choir sang three choruses: And He Shall Purify, His Yoke Is Easy and The Lord Gave the Word; and were joined by the Huddersfield Choral Society; North London Chorus and Finchley Choral Society; Pimlico Music Foundation and Tiffin Boys Schools Choirs; and the Kings College London Choir. A sixth newly formed international ‘Sing at Home’ Choir also took part. Our very own Matt Norris and Alex James were editors-in-chief for the whole project.

You can watch this performance any time on the London Handel Festival’s Youtube channel here.

 Can you support the project?

We would be very grateful for any support you can offer us to cover the costs of online rehearsals and editing together of our singers’ choral submissions (approximately £1500). Email annabel@therodolfusfoundation.org.uk or follow this link to our campaign page on Virgin Money Giving.
