The Rodolfus Choir follows the sun in an early evening recital of music from light to darkness.
Hear Byrd’s radiant O lux beata Trinitas and Charles Wood’s Hail, gladdening light alongside music for the evening by Schütz, Rheinberger and Finzi. At the heart of the programme is Brahms’s searching motet Warum ist das Licht gegeben – “Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery” – and two contemporary works by Owain Park, the new chief conductor of the BBC Singers.
